Grip/Egonomics

Due to strange texturing or poor grip angles, grips on polymer pistols can be particularly hit or miss.

Thankfully, Taurus nailed practically every aspect of the GX4 grip. Some people will vehemently disagree with me if I say it’s perfect.

The texturing is gritty and attractive to the eye, which, let’s face it, is crucial.

The entire angle of attack on the grip is exactly 45 degrees, as you would anticipate.

The backstrap is interchangeable and has one longer back strip like most polymer grips do.

The pistol feels sturdy in your hands, but you’ll like it more if your hands are smaller. The grip frame is rather little, and the magazines don’t add any more grip length.

SIGHTS

Despite criticism that the sights are subpar, Taurus chose my preferred sight setup on this weapon.

The front sight is a single white dot, while the rear sight is unmarked. The sights offer a clear sight picture and aren’t overly big or elaborate.

The front sight’s lack of night vision is the lone drawback, if you can call it that. Not a problem for me, and at this price, I wouldn’t anticipate seeing any nighttime sights.

CONTROLS

The controls on the GX4 are a normal set of handgun controls; Taurus didn’t do anything innovative with them.

It’s time to get started since, as I always say, controls will make or break a pistol.

SAFETY

This firearm lacks a manual safety. You’re just out of luck if you were looking for a manual thumb safety.

Similar to the Glock safe action trigger safety, the pistol does contain a trigger shoe safety.

MAGAZINE RELEASE

This rifle is tiny in comparison. There aren’t many “big” or “large” things on this gun because the entire handgun is only 6.05′′ long. Perhaps in respect to other, smaller components of the cannon, but not in the conventional sense.

Having saying that, the magazine release is modest. It is roughly the size of a pencil eraser for comparison.

Pressing the magazine release is quite simple, and the magazine descends quickly. Even a completely empty magazine can be removed from the rifle with ease and speed.

SLIDE STOP

Of all the controls, the sliding stop is definitely my least preferred. It is also compact and a little challenging to use.

With an empty magazine in the rifle, it is practically hard to pull down the grip frame with your thumb because it is constructed around the slide release.

The slide stop/release works flawlessly and smoothly when the gun is unloaded. But because it isn’t ambidextrous, pulling it down is challenging.
